Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub - Main Street
- The music-loving team at Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub on Main Street in Vancouver is committed to bringing live music to the pub’s stage nightly. On Thursday November 26th it will be the shining young faces from Saint James Music Academy leading the pub patrons in song as the children perform in a charming fundraiser.
Between September 2015 and June 2016, the Dubh Linn Gate pub management has committed to raising $5,000, which they will donate to their most worthy community partner, Saint James Music Academy Fiddle and Folk Music Program.
In the kick-off fundraiser for Saint James Music Academy, the publicans are partnering with five Vancouver breweries, selling cask beers from Steamworks Brewery, Red Truck Beer, Whistler Brewing Company, Central City Brewers + Distillers and Parallel 49 Brewing. 100% of the proceeds from the pints sold from 5:00PM onwards on the evening of November 26th will go to the music academy.
The Dubh Linn Gate team recognizes the key role music plays our lives, how it’s part of our spirit, our wellness and our connection to others. They’re reaching beyond the pub doors and hope to make even more music in their newest neighbourhood.
The Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, known as Canada’s poorest urban neighbourhood, is home to Saint James Music Academy. At Saint James Music Academy, the staff, teachers and volunteers combine their knowledge and energy to nudge children along in the process of making music collaboratively. The academy leaders realize music is the language of joy and of hope, spoken by everyone and understood by all. Through music, young students are nurtured and encouraged to find a positive connection with other musicians, young and old, and ultimately with the community in which they live.
Children will kick off the event and perform for the academy supporters and other patrons at 5:00PM. Cask night, with all proceeds going to Saint James Music Academy, will continue until the beer runs out!
